Hello to all my friends. I am reaching out to ask for a little help for my sister Natalie. She would rarely ask for help, like so many of us would do as well. So I am reaching out to ones that I know and graciously asking for help for her.
Unfortunately, she doesn’t have any insurance so she is relying on places like JPS and others to allow payment plan procedures to help with her illnesses.
Natalie has a few illnesses, but the most detrimental to her physical and mental health are the following.
Advanced Macular Degeneration Disease. This of course affects the eyes. Unfortunately she is now LEGALLY BLIND in one eye and worse than 400/20 in the other. Believe it or not…that is going to worsen. She is forced to get rides from her husband James to go anywhere. Just to go visit my mother 8 minutes away is not a “jump in the car and happily go” thing any longer.
The other devastating illness/diseases are:
Esophageal Dysmotility and Esophageal Gastric Junction Outflow Obstruction. These work together. In short…causes the sphincter muscles at the bottom of the esophagus to spasm where you cannot eat. She has been on soup and homemade protein shakes for 6 months now and even that has to be a particular consistency “day to day”. She has lost over 25lbs and wants to eat, but sadly cannot. Where we can freely go eat out or go to get togethers, she cannot. The smell of food, laughter, and fun for us sets in a horrible state of depression for her. I can’t fathom that.
The picture of her above is well before this. The happiness in that picture says it all. When we are happy and having fun, our mental health is flourishing. At this point for her, I can only imagine how devastating it is for her mental and physical health right now.
I am sorry for the long explanation, but I know the torture for her is ongoing and wanted to be detailed about these illnesses/diseases and what they can cause.
Thank you for whatever help can be given. Prayers are always wanted. Prayers for her and James and to finding cures and solutions. Thank you so much. Todd TRowe
