Help Nashe Walk and Recover
I'd like to introduce you to my son Nashe Bitar from Palestine.
He is 4 years old, and was diagnosed with cerebral palsy due to the lack of oxygen in the incubator after his birth, As a result, Nashe suffers from extreme muscle tightness in his legs and cannot stand or walk unaided.
He is a very bright, amazing, confident boy, who is extremely determined and tries hard not to let this condition affects his life.
Nashe's dream is to be able to stand and walk unaided!
After a year of research into possible treatments and contacting many hospitals, we were lucky that St. Louis Children’s Hospital, Missouri in the USA has accepted Nashe's case for a life-changing surgery called Selective Dorsal Rhizotomy (SDR), the procedure involves cutting nerves in the lower spine, reducing spasticity and weakening the core muscles. After intensive physiotherapy to strengthen the muscles back up, this will help him improve his balance, coordination and help him walk more easily!
Thankfully Nashe had the surgery and it was successful and now we are in phase two of treatment which is physical therapy.
The problem is the SDR surgery was an extremely expensive procedure as it did cost more than $60,000, our plan was to finish the physical therapy and travel back home, unfortunately because of the Covid-19 crisis we are not able to travel back and that affect us as a family because the living cost + physical therapy in the US is very expensive and the Nashe's mother Shereen is pregnant and might end up giving birth here in the US
