I founded Dreams United Football Club in 2021 to create opportunities for asylum-seeking and refugee players to come together through football, community, and solidarity. We've never used this platform to raise money for an individual player - until now. But after hearing what one of our players, Nabil, is facing, I felt I had no choice but to act.

Nabil is a refugee from Yemen and a valued member of our team. For the past three years, he has been fighting an uphill battle with the UK Home Office to be reunited with his family - his ill mother and teenage sister. Tragically, during this time of forced separation, Nabil’s father passed away, before they could all be together again in safety.

Just recently, there was a breakthrough. The UK Home Office has finally accepted the identities of Nabil’s mother and sister, and agreed to issue them visas. But it’s not over yet.

Before their visas are issued, Nabil’s mother and sister must travel from Yemen to Cairo and wait 5-6 weeks before they are able to travel to the UK. During that time, they will need somewhere safe to stay, food to eat, and support to get through each day.

Nabil plans to fly to Cairo himself to look after them, but the financial burden is heavy - he must fund three flights, accommodation, daily living costs, and eventually flights to the UK.

Until recently, Nabil was working hard as a delivery driver using an E-bike, always sending more than half of what he earned back to his mother and sister in Yemen. But earlier this year, his E-bike was stolen, cutting off his main source of income just when he needs it most.

To make matters more urgent, Nabil’s mother is seriously ill. She suffers from several health conditions, and has been told she will need surgery. In the meantime, she attends her local hospital regularly with the help of her teenage daughter - Nabil's younger sister.

Nabil's family stand on the brink of being reunited, they face a daunting final stretch - and they need your help to make it through.
