HELP MY WIFE TO SAVE LIVES
Hello, my name is Pavel Alejandro, and I am asking for help for my wife, Sandra. If you help her, you help my family. At the same time, you help people here, in North Wales, UK. I will explain:
We are a Cuban family that was lucky and blessed, to be able to leave Cuba together: my wife, my little daughter, Camilla, and me. A little over a year ago, my wife won a scholarship for master's studies at Bangor University and the scholarship included two dependants, thank God. With the help of God and good friends, we obtained several loans and were able to travel. But our 1-year visa expired. Thanks to God, we had access to a new visa for 2 more years, but we had to pay a lot of money to change the status of our visas. We have these 2 years to get skilled jobs and stay in this country.
Sandra is a medical doctor, and I am an Art Historian. We both are professionals with more than 20 years of experience and excellent results in Cuba. I currently work as a Teacher Assistant and Learning Support worker in some schools in North Wales. My wife works as a healthcare assistant at Bangor Hospital. We have to revalidate our university degrees in this country to aspire to jobs that allow us to get ahead, pay our travel debts and help our families that remained in Cuba.
However, what interests me most is being able to revalidate my wife's degree title. But to do that she has to pass some tests and be enrolled in the medical college. The cost of that is about £4000. With our salaries, we live decently and save some money to pay our debts, but it does not allow us to save to pay to revalidate her medical doctor degree.
I'm really worried because our visas will end in March 2025. We cannot return to Cuba because a life without employment and full of misery await us, and we are no longer so young. Because of my political pronouncements when I was still in Cuba, I was silently condemned, as many things happen in Cuba, and I gradually lost all my jobs. My wife was punished, with minimum wage, for making public her decision to leave Cuba. No, we can't go back there. Please, help us to pay for her exams to validate her degree.
I'm not just asking for help for my wife. Thousands of people across North Wales could benefit from her work as a doctor. Hospitals need more doctors, and my wife could be one of them. She has the knowledge, the experience, the infinite vocation to serve and the passion to work. She worked as an emergency physician, but she also did epidemiology. The MA she did at Bangor University was on Leading Quality Improvement, but the subject of her thesis was obesity perception and control in Wales. She has a lot of ideas to put into practice and comes home every day with a smile of satisfaction for her work but with the pain of not being able to deliver more, of not being able to help more, because her title is not validated. And although she has a lot of knowledge and enthusiasm, she has to limit herself only to the profile of being an assistant. It is sad and alarming to notice that we are running out of time in this country. Please help us.
