My sweet across the street neighbors, a couple in their 80s, recently had a large tree fall across their driveway, crushing their vehicle and blocking their home. Because money is very tight, they can’t afford the $500 homeowners insurance deductible required to have the tree professionally removed.

Right now, they’re out there with hand saws, trying to cut through this massive tree, piece by piece. It breaks my heart to watch them struggle with something that shouldn’t fall on their shoulders at this stage of life.

They are incredibly modest people who would never ask for help, so I am asking on their behalf. Out of respect for their privacy, I am not sharing a photo of them. My goal is simply to raise the $500 needed to cover their deductible so the tree can be removed safely and quickly.

Helping them feels like the neighborly thing to do — stepping in with love and kindness when someone in our community needs it. Any contribution, no matter how small, will make a huge difference in easing their burden and showing them the care they deserve.
