Hey y'all. It is with heavy heart that I ask for help in these times of hardship but this is very important. My stepfather Patrick is being targeted by ICE and has been repeatedly harassed and followed by ICE Agents, harassed by Security at the Immigration Office in Los Angeles, and made the butt of the joke at the initial court hearing. My mother and Patrick don't make very much they put all they had saved into an immigration lawyer and she ended up ghosting them after paying upwards of 2000$ dollars and is currently withholding their legal documents. Her excuse was verbatim: "I don't want to assist in a case where the date is not definite. Here are some numbers of lawyers that could possibly help..."
Since the first court hearing the courts decided that Patrick and my Mother did not have enough evidence to support their case. Immigration told Patrick and my mother that their hearing would be postponed due to Covid-19. Recently they received a parcel in the mail stating that they would proceed with the hearing this coming August leaving my parents with no time to save money. ICE recently came to our dwelling space and turned the place upside down, making disgusting comments in the process, both agents got off on the fact that my Step Dad was completely in fear and in shambles. THIS IS NOT OKAY!!
A little back story on my Step Dad he met my mother while she was studying abroad in the Philippines and they hit it off when she graduated her school they moved down here together to pursue their love. Patrick was escaping family abuse, as he was the youngest of 3 boys, and pressure from his family to join into the unlawful ways of life in poverty. He sought to make something of himself and become a Video Game Developer in America. Life for an immigrant is hard as Patrick struggled to find work and find his footing into a new country. Patrick is a hard worker and loves all of my Mother's children with endless love and acceptance and was a better companion for my mother than my deadbeat, womanizing father could ever be.
