Help our son, a stroke patient, on his long road to recovery

Donation protected
Julian Dragwidge, our son, sadly suffered a major stroke in October 2022 in his first week of working in the hospitality industry in Melbourne. He was hospitalised in the Royal Melbourne Hospital for three months and then in the Rehabilitation Ward in Sunshine Hospital in Melbourne for another three months. The effects of the stroke have been life changing for Julian who suffers with aphasia. This happens with damage or disruptions in parts of the brain that control spoken language. The stroke also caused Hemiplegia which is a common after-effect of stroke that causes weakness on one side of the body. This one-sided weakness has limited Julian's movement and affects all basic activities, such as dressing, eating, and walking. At present Julian requires ongoing physio and speech therapy to help in his recovery process of these drastic changes to his life. He needs to attend neurology specialists clinics and have various periodic diagnostic tests like MRI's and CT scans undertaken. During his discharge from hospital Julian is in our care and we have been assisting over the last 18 months as much as we can, however, the ongoing treatment to enable Julian regain some independence is taking a toll in prompting us to reach out to family and friends for support. Your generosity in helping our son will be greatly appreciated. Times are tough and we will understand if you are unable to assist but do say a prayer for his recovery to the Almighty. God Bless you all.
