My name is Eric Pelkey, WÍĆKINEM, Hereditary Chief of Tsawout of the W̱SÁNEĆ (Saanich) Nation. I’m reaching out with a heavy heart for my beloved sister, Eydie Pelkey (W̱IOMELWET). She’s a respected Elder, Local Hero award recipient, and tireless advocate who helped create the First Nations Adult Care Society and fought for better care for our Elders and families.

Eydie is undergoing cancer treatment right now. On top of that, she’s the heart of our big family — caring for a house full of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and extended family who all rely on her. The overcrowded conditions are making her fight so much harder. She desperately needs her own quiet space to heal while we renovate the main house for the grandkids. With the cost of living so high and rent impossible everywhere, we must stay together on our ancestral lands.

Buy and install a modest tiny house on our family property in Tsawout.

Complete necessary repairs and upgrades to the existing home.
