My name is Skye, and I’m writing today on behalf of my sister, Carly, who is currently going through an incredibly difficult and costly family court battle. As her sister, I’ve witnessed firsthand the emotional, financial, and mental toll this process has taken on her. My sister is fighting for herself and for her daughter. The case revolves around settling parenting arrangements, and despite many offers to settle outside of the court system to avoid lengthy fees, she is now facing a final hearing. Despite this, she continues to incur additional costs by way of attempts to delay the process and unnecessary legal correspondence from the other party adding not only to the financial burden but also to the emotional distress this process has caused.

In addition to this legal fight, she has also had the stress of being involved in criminal court as a result of being a victim of domestic violence, which has resulted in multiple court appearances in addition to the family court matter to resolve parenting. She has experienced a situation that I would have never thought she would have to face.

This is a deeply personal matter, and the legal fees have been astronomical. Even after spending her entire savings, taking out a personal loan and borrowing from family, she is at a point where she can no longer cover the expenses on her own. Without help, her only option is to reduce her income in the hope of receiving legal aid to assist her at the final hearing leaving her in even more financial distress.

Every hearing, every consultation, every document adds up, and the reality is that she is facing ongoing costs without any real possibility of recovering any funds other than through your help.
