Hi,
My name is Joanna, and I’ve created this fundraiser for my sister, Iwona. She is facing the biggest health challenge of her life — advanced endometriosis and adenomyosis.
For years, Iwona suffered from severe pain while being misdiagnosed or told her symptoms were “normal.” Like so many women, her concerns were dismissed — and now the disease has progressed to a stage where urgent and complex surgery is the only option.
The planned surgery is extensive. It will involve the removal of endometrial lesions from the rectovaginal area, resection of part of her intestine, removal of the uterus along with both fallopian tubes, and excision of several tumors from the affected tissues.
The procedure is scheduled at the Endometriosis Institute in Wrocław, one of the leading centers in Poland for this condition. The total cost of the surgery, hospital care, and medications is 50,000 PLN (around £9,500) — far beyond what she can afford on her own.
Iwona is a single mother and is currently on medical leave, as her symptoms have become too severe to continue working. Waiting for public healthcare would mean many more months — or even years — of pain and potential complications. Time she simply doesn’t have.
She has launched a fundraiser in Poland, and I’m doing everything I can to support her from the UK by starting this GoFundMe. Every donation will go directly toward her surgery, recovery, and essential medications.
Any contribution, no matter how small, will make a real difference.

This fundraiser is also a warning.To every woman reading this – please don’t ignore your body. Don’t accept pain as “normal.” Endometriosis is serious, still often misunderstood, and far too many women are left to suffer in silence.
My sister’s story should never have happened — but maybe it can help prevent others from going through the same.
