Dear friends, family, and kind strangers,
My heart is broken as I write this. My sister and her young daughter have lost everything in a devastating house fire—a fire intentionally set by her abusive ex-boyfriend. This came just three days after the sudden loss of her beloved father. Within a single week, my sister’s world has been turned upside down in the most horrific and unimaginable ways.
This wasn’t just a fire. It was the final act of terror in a long, painful year of domestic violence. Despite countless attempts to get help, the system failed her. Reports were made, pleas for protection were voiced, but they were not enough. She lived in fear for months, and now she’s lost the roof over her head, her belongings, her daughter’s safe space, and the sense of security every person deserves.
They escaped with their lives—barely—and are left with only the clothes on their backs. Everything is gone: their home, their furniture, their clothing, photos, keepsakes, school supplies, toys—a lifetime of memories reduced to ashes.
But even in the face of tragedy, my sister is fighting. She’s trying to stay strong for her daughter, who doesn’t understand why her world looks so different now.
We’re asking for your help—not just to rebuild a home, but to help rebuild lives. Funds raised will go toward:
• Temporary housing and relocation costs
• Basic necessities (clothing, toiletries, food)
• School supplies and clothing for my niece
• Legal support and counseling
• Long-term recovery and stability
Every donation, every share, every prayer means the world to us. If you can give, no matter how small, please know it will help my sister and niece feel seen, supported, and safe again.
We are grateful for your love, kindness, and humanity during this dark time.
With love and hope,
Destinee
