“Hi there, I’m Tristan and I’m a 22 year-old trans guy in the UK. I live in a very unsupportive household that boarders on abusive. No part of my identity is respected by my family like my chosen name, my pronouns and my choice as a legal adult to pursue transitioning, to the point I’ve had to hide taking hormones and changing my legal name. Previously in the past, as well, they’ve refused to get me treatment/therapy for an eating disorder, which left me no choice but to be hospitalized and left me with some medical issues.
It has gotten so bad that it causes constant breakdowns and fights in my household and I was only offered therapy (something I’ve desperately needed for a long time which my family were aware of) in hopes it would ‘fix’ me. I was told to hide my identity with my parents not wanting to be seen supporting it’ making it clear that if I was going to live that way fully I wouldn’t be welcome in the home. While also now financially holding therapy above my head as they know I can’t afford it on my own.
This has all come while pursuing my Masters degree full time not allowing me to currently pursue full time employment. Additionally to this, I live in a very rural area of the UK with poor to non-existent transport links for part-time work. This has landed me in a position where I feel utterly trapped, berated and disrespected constantly and I am in desperate need to get out.
I am not normally one to ask for money but I recognise that my situation is at a breaking point now. I do plan to put the money towards a deposit on renting a place plus the first month of rent where I will then look for part-time work as the city I want to move to has stronger transport networks. Anything you can spare would mean the world to me and thank you so much for taking the time to read this, regardless of if you’re in the position to support me or not. :))”
