Thank you for taking the time to read this.
My name is Derick Alvarado and sharing this information is not easy, as it is not my story but my parents’, who, despite never seeking attention or assistance, now face an overwhelming reality.
My dad was diagnosed with an incurable brain tumor last spring. Even with medication he continues to battle seizures on a daily basis. Then in the past 2 weeks, my mom was hit with devastating news. She needs surgery to remove a painful and abnormal lump from her body. For almost a year, my parents have not been able to work and I hate seeing them drown due to not being able to meet ends meet.
While my siblings and I have supported them to the best of our ability, we are needing a miracle. They would never ask for financial help, but I see the immense toll it takes on them. They have given everything to us, even as teen parents who left high school to be working parents. Through relentless hard work and resilience, they raised six of us—Rick (33), myself, Derick (31), my late sister Leslie Shay (passed away at 7 mo.), Angel (27), Damian (19), and Vivian (16)—all while navigating countless hardships, frequent relocations, and financial struggles. Their sacrifices resulted in making every holiday magical for my siblings and I, every challenge bearable, and every day filled with love, despite their own struggles. Now, they deserve peace and stability in the midst of illness and lack of income. If you are able, I ask for your support—any contribution, no matter the amount, would mean the world. My parents may not be famous, but if you’ve ever had their tacos, you might say they were the best in town (Vero's Tacos). More importantly, they are extraordinary people who have spent their lives giving to others, and now, it is our turn to give back. Thank you for your kindness, generosity, and time.
