Flood Relief for My Parents’ Damaged Home
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Steve Hurter, and I’m reaching out on behalf of my parents, who have been devastated by recent flooding along the Vaal River in South Africa.
Their home was completely flooded when 10 sluice gates were opened at the Vaal Dam to relieve pressure after it reached 127% capacity. Unfortunately, they live downstream, and the resulting surge caused water levels to rise over 1 meter inside their home.
This is not the first time they’ve faced such a tragedy. Just two years ago, a similar flood caused severe damage. They used almost all of their life savings to repair their wooden home, trying to create a safe and stable environment again. Now, with this new flood, the main structure of the house has been compromised, and it will need to be replaced entirely.
They are emotionally and financially overwhelmed, and they simply do not have the means to recover on their own this time. There is no external support, and they are left feeling lost, with their home uninhabitable.
Any donation, no matter how small, will go directly toward helping them rebuild their home and their lives. If you’re unable to donate, sharing this campaign would mean the world to us.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your kindness and support.
