Two years ago my sister Jennifer & Simon Kern got a phone call and stepped up to the plate, flying to Colorado to pick up their niece, a little girl who needed a safe home and a LOT of love. They never expected their lives to go this way. They were empty nesters with both their children grown and gone. What was a short term arrangement became a long term placement when they were awarded full custody and guardianship until age is 18. Aliyah stole their hearts from the start and with a lot of hard work, dedication and buckets of hugs and kisses she has grown from a scared 2 year old to a bold and confident 4 year old with endless amounts energy. She is happy, safe and so loved. She is surrounded by a family and community who adores and supports her!
Simon & Jennifer had planned to make the adoption final this year but than Jennifer was unexpectedly medically retired from her job as a customs agent due to her Lupus. This has been a blessing and a curse, she gets to be home with Aliyah full time but her funds for the adoption have been drained with this unplanned early retirement not to mention the interstate adoption process is long tedious and expensive. They need all of OUR help to give Aliyah the best gift ever...the gift of her forever home and a last name that matches who she knows and calls dad and mom!
I can speak for my sister when I tell you that they will be forever grateful for each and everyone of you who donate and make this dream of theirs come true. This year has been a rough year for them but we can help turn it around for not just them but for sweet Aliyah!
No donation is too small and EVERY donation counts to meet our goal but please if you can not donate you can help them by showering them with prayer!
