Hi my name is Teisha Williams, a single parent living in Canada. I’m reaching out with great humility and a heavy heart to ask for help for my mom and younger brother after Hurricane Melissa destroyed our family home.

As the eldest child its has always been my responsibility to care for my mom and siblings. However, this is a burden that I cannot bear on my own. This year I had my own series of unfortunate events, which place me in great debt. Still, I cannot sit by and not assist in the rebuilding of my childhood home and providing basic essentials for my mother, brother and others in our community and family.

When Hurricane Melissa hit, our home was severely damaged. the roof had zincs blown off which resulted in flooding and everything getting wet and damaged. Fortunately, they were not home, however, they need to return to their home. Everything that they had need to be replaced, including medical supplies for my brother.

While the focus is on my immediate family, I cannot ignore others in this small community in Santa Cruz, St. Elizabeth who have provided assistance to my family and are also suffering from this catastrophic hurricane. My extended family and friends in Santa Cruz and St. Elizabeth are all impacted. Everyone needs support not matter how small. That’s why I’m turning to the kindness of others.

Funds raised will go toward:

* Repairing and rebuilding my mom’s home so it’s safe again

* Replacing damaged essentials like furniture, food, and clothing

* Restoring or replacing my brother’s mobility and medical equipment

* Supporting other neighbors, family members and friends in our community who also lost so much in the storm
