My daughter-in-law, Kitana's mom, Andrea, and her family are facing such a difficult situation with her mom's recent stroke. I started this GoFundMe with hopes we can offer our kindness (big and small) to them in their time of great need. -Patience

From Kit:

My mom has spent the past 24 years as the full-time caretaker for my younger brother, who is an adult with autism. She has always put his needs and comfort above her own, showing endless patience and love. While visiting us in Richmond, she suffered a sudden stroke on May 17th, brought on by stress. Since then, she has been in a charitable rehab facility, working hard to recover despite the challenges she faces every day.

Now, the rehab facility is discharging her, but she is not yet strong enough to travel back home to Arizona. We do not own a family home, so we are seeking accessible lodging for her—somewhere with no stairs, ample space, and a private bed. Because of her stroke, she is unable to stand, walk, or sit herself up, and she needs a safe, comfortable place to heal and regain her strength. The funds raised will go directly toward providing her with this essential support while we handle the other expenses, paperwork, and arrangements for her ongoing care.

Finding this space will take an enormous weight off of our shoulders and help keep my mom safe and happy during her recovery. She is determined to get better, and we are determined to help her in every way we can. My family is so grateful that you have taken the time to read about my mom and consider helping us. She has spent so much of her life caring for others, and her heart will be so full knowing that others want to care for her as well.
