Hi, my name is Jessica, and I’m creating this GoFundMe for my mom, Paula Pearson. She is a strong, loving, and generous woman who has spent her life showing up for others. Right now, she needs our support to help her heal, recover, and rebuild.
Earlier this year, my mom traveled across the country to care for her own mother, who was gravely ill and eventually went into hospice before passing away. For months, she was her mother’s full-time caregiver. She spent countless nights sleeping in hospital chairs, managed every detail of her care, and made sure she never felt alone. She was by her side 24/7 through every difficult moment, including her final breath.
While my mom was selflessly caring for her own mother, she was also facing her own diagnosis: breast cancer.
She had no choice but to put her health on hold to care for someone she loved. But she didn’t think twice about doing it…that’s just the kind of person she is.
Shortly after returning home to California, she underwent a mastectomy surgery for her cancer. We’re relieved that she is now cancer-free, but since then she has been healing from intense nerve pain and the emotional weight of losing her mother, as well as a part of herself. The grief, physical pain, and stress have been incredibly difficult.
My mom is resilient and determined. She is one of the most selfless people I know. But right now, she is in need.
She is a self-employed esthetician and has not been able to work for most of this year. Without access to disability or paid leave, her income stopped while the bills continued. She has more reconstructive surgeries ahead and will need more time away from work. Her savings and the help of close family have helped to keep her afloat but the financial pressure is still growing.
This fundraiser will help cover her basic needs, including groceries, medical, and essential living expenses, so she can focus fully on her recovery.
If you know Paula, you know how thoughtful and giving she is. She has spent over 30 years helping others feel confident and beautiful in their skin. Her generosity and kindness go far beyond her work. She is the type of person who always went the extra mile. Growing up, she was the mom everyone could count on. Whether it was offering car rides, helping out in a pinch, or making sure everyone felt welcome in her home, she has always showed up for others.
She has given so much of herself to those around her. Now it’s time for us to give back to her.
Any donation, big or small, will make a real difference. If you are unable to give, please consider sharing this with your community or simply keeping her in your thoughts.
Thank you for being a part of her support system. Your generosity means the world.
With love and deep gratitude,
Jessica
