Help my mom post-op

Hi, my name is Emily. I’m 18 and still in high school. Six years ago my dad passed away; just eight months later my mom, my little brother, and I left Brazil to start over in Canada. Since then, my mom has carried our family on her shoulders, working long hours so my brother and I could feel safe and dream big.

Last year doctors found a lump in her breast. Recently it began to leak, and now she must have urgent surgery to remove it. The operation itself is covered by Canada’s healthcare system, but recovery will force her to miss six to eight weeks of work—weeks with no pay. We have no relatives here to lean on. Rent, groceries, won’t wait for her paycheck to return.
