Help My Hometown Broșteni Recover After Devastating Floods

My name is Elena Sadoveanu, and I’m originally from Broșteni, a small mountain town in Suceava County, Romania. I now live in Ireland, but my heart is with my family and community back home — especially now, after the devastating floods.

On the night of Sunday, July 27th, Broșteni was hit by severe flooding that destroyed homes, washed away roads, and left many families without shelter, food, or safe drinking water. My own mother’s home was flooded with half a meter of muddy water, damaging nearly everything inside — furniture, clothing, bedding, and food. We are among the fortunate ones. Some of our neighbors lost their homes entirely.

Entire households — many with children or elderly members — are struggling with no electricity, damaged roofs, mud-covered floors, and ruined belongings.

Why I’m Raising Funds:

I am organizing this fundraiser to directly support the people of Broșteni — starting with those most in need, including my mother’s neighbors who lost everything.

While I’m not currently on the ground, I am in regular contact with my family and others back home. As donations come in, I plan to coordinate directly with trusted people in Broșteni to identify those most in need and ensure help is delivered responsibly and transparently. I’ll also be sharing updates, photos, and receipts so you can see exactly where your support is going.
