Hi I’m Adele, I’m trying to raise money to help my grandparents be able to finish their home.

My yayu ( grandad) is currently battling lung cancer, and my grandma is his full-time carer. Wanting to downsize to a home they could comfortably manage in their old age, my grandma made the difficult decision to sell their family home and use their life savings to build a small, cosy bungalow where they could spend their remaining years together.

They found what seemed like the perfect plot of land in Spain where they’ve lived for many years. Sadly, being so far from us means we can’t have them move in while they go through this, we can only support from a distance, which makes this even more heartbreaking for our family.

They put all of their trust and savings into a builder they believed would give them a safe home for their later years. Instead, he took their money, leaving behind nothing but an empty shell of a structure and no funds to complete it.

My grandparents are now living in rented accommodation in Spain, paying for it out of their pension. What should have been a peaceful and comfortable place for my grandparents has turned into months of stress, financial strain and uncertainty, especially for my grandma, who is doing everything she can while caring for him.

I’m raising funds to help finish their bungalow so my yayu and my grandma can finally have the security and comfort they deserve after everything they’ve been through.
