SUMMARY:
Hello everyone. On May 30th, my Lolo (grandpa in Tagalog) Eddie survived a heart attack. He was transferred to the Philippine Heart Center, a public hospital facility in the Philippines, to receive urgent care. My family and I are not wealthy, so private health care was not an option. Despite that, the medical costs we are working with are beyond our living expenses. Following his heart attack, he underwent angioplasty surgery.
He is now slowly recovering, but we are still facing massive debt post-hospital care and ongoing medical aid. Unlike Canada, we do not have free and heavily subsidized public health care, thus the high costs.
Please see the breakdown of the costs we currently need to pay:
- Monthly medications - Php 20,000/ month = $500 CAD/month for 6 months which totals to $3,000 CAD
- First hospital bill - Php 329,398/ $8,069.18
- Second hospital bill - Php 436,150.95 = $10,684.28
Total: $21, 753.50
As I currently live in Canada, I hope to support my family in the Philippines through this GoFundMe. Any donation amount will help.
Thank you everyone for supporting my family during these tough times.
