My grandmother lives in Baghdad, Iraq. She is one of the strongest and kindest people I know.
At 75 years old, she has raised six children, lived through more than a dozen wars and conflicts, lost her oldest son 6 years ago, and endured hardships that most of us can hardly imagine. Yet through every challenge, she never stopped caring for those around her. She has always been the person her family, friends, and neighbours could turn to. She is a source of comfort, generosity, and hope to everyone around her.
Even today, she continues to be a light in the lives of everyone who knows her.
For the past four years, she has been courageously battling breast cancer. She had a mastectomy last year and went through several rounds of chemo and radiation. If you are aware of the medical system in Iraq, you know that nothing is covered and health insurance is not a thing. Our family has exhausted our savings, devoted countless hours, and done everything we could to give her the best chance at recovery.
Heartbreakingly, her cancer has returned and spread to other parts of her body.
She now requires more aggressive treatment and additional surgeries. While we remain committed to fighting alongside her, we can no longer do it alone.
Today, we are asking for your help.
Every donation, no matter the amount, will be a great help and give her the opportunity to continue this fight. If you’re unable to donate, sharing her story would mean the world to us.
Thank you for your kindness, generosity, and prayers. From the bottom of our hearts, we are deeply grateful for any support you can provide.
❤️ May God bless you and your loved ones.
