I am about to welcome my four grandbabies—ages two, three, four, and nine—into my home after a long and emotional journey. Their mother became ill and was unable to care for them, so they have been in foster care in California since August 25, 2025. On April 5th, they will finally be flying home to Indiana, where they belong, and I am doing everything I can to make sure their transition is as smooth and loving as possible.

Preparing for their arrival means starting over with everything: car seats, diapers, daycare, clothes, toiletries, shoes, and school supplies. I want to make sure they have everything they need to feel safe, comfortable, and cared for from the moment they walk through the door. To help them adjust, I will be taking time off work, unpaid, so I can be there for them every step of the way as they settle into their new home and routine.

I have been fighting fiercely since August to bring my grandbabies home, and now that the day is almost here, I am reaching out for support.
