Help My Friends In Tanzania Go To School
Donation protected
I'm raising money to help students in Tanzania!
It all started with a case of mistaken identity. In 2019, I contacted a man named Yusuph - a friend of a friend on Facebook. I thought he was part of a resettled Swahili-speaking community in a city near me. I was developing a refugee leadership program at the time and hoped to enlist people like Yusuph to build a network of support for newcomers. In return I'd provide volunteers with leadership training. Yusuph accepted my friend request. He had no idea who I was, but was enthusiastic. He'd just started a church for the community; there were more than 200 children they were trying to help with basic needs, education, healthcare...but once we switched to video mode, we realized we were speaking from separate continents! The rest is history. We've been collaborating for over half a decade now.
This year we can help build a safe and secure school building for school children in a remote village 3 hours from Pastor Yusuph's city of Mwanza. Currently, these kiddos learn outside under some trees in their their village. When I visited with Pastor Yusuph in 2023, the students themselves showed me right where they and hundreds of their classmates sit on the ground. Because they have no school building, whenever the weather is bad, the children have to forgo their learning.
In addition to tackling this rural educational challenge, we're also working to solve transportation challenges for preschoolers that our past donations have helped in the city of Mwanza.
All in all, this fundraiser is an unbeatable opportunity to invest in kids EARLY while creating capital and jobs in two African communities. Support this and share!
