Help my friend with her Australia fire mission
Summary:
My dear friend Cheryl from Ottawa, Canada is embarking on a wild journey to the Australian bush to help with the wild fire recovery. All her expenses are coming out of pocket (flight, vet material, 1 month off work)
******
For those of you who don’t know Cheryl, she’s what many of us would call a real life superhero. She’s an accomplished veterinarian and Ottawa firefighter originally from Newfoundland. What I love most about her is that she is the most caring and compassionate person I know. She wears her heart on her sleeve and is always ready to lend a helping hand to anyone or any creature that needs help. This is a heavy burden to wear sometimes, but it makes her who she is. <3
Being passionate about animals and the environment, Cheryl has decided to embark on her biggest adventure yet. She will be heading very shortly (February 5th) to the Australian bush (or whatever is left of it) to assist with the crisis. She will be dealing with burns, dehydration, starvation, maggots in wounds, euthanasias, etc in various species of animals.
Cheryl’s desire to help didn’t start with the Australian fire relief efforts. She has already done conservation work in Africa and has worked hand in hand with the fine people at Ol Pejeta Conservancy.
She is involved in helping with Rhino conservation (HelpingRhinos.org), pedaling against poaching (#pedalingagainstpoaching) and a member of CPAWS-NL.
She has very difficult weeks ahead of her, but I know she’s looking forward to helping as much as she can over there. She will give it her all and they are very lucky to have someone like her helping.
I don’t think she’ll have a lot of time to post while in Australia, but if you’d like to follow where the money is going and what she has done so far, you can follow her on

We’re asking for your contribution to help her help others.
Any little bit is appreciated. Any money not used directly will go to wildlife conservation in AU and to aid ongoing care.
Thanks everyone.
