Hey East Van community and beyond!

My name is Leia and I live in East Vancouver, Canada. I’m desperately trying to help my friend Farid Halawa in Gaza City access basic supplies for his survival.

As we all know, Palestine has been bombed, starved, sniped and gassed to death by Israel for nearly two years straight - a holocaust broadcast live to the world.

Since 2023, Farid has lost his beloved mother, father, wife and three young children. Though he survives, he escapes death daily, with injuries that he struggles to heal. Conditions continue to worsen as prices for basic items soar.

Please help Farid meet his most basic needs (food, water and medication) by donating what you can. Every dollar is withdrawn and used immediately, so please remember that the end goal is not the point.

Farid and I are in contact every day and we use PayPal to transfer funds as it is the ONLY lifeline left in Gaza. Even so, the money exchangers there take a 45% cut to provide cash.

I know we all wish we could do something more. I’ve been putting all my grief over my mother’s recent passing into trying to care for this one person and remain a witness to this genocide. I'm in tears every single day.

I would like to be able to send him more than I’ve been able to. Please help by doing this with me. ANY amount means so much.

“The war is still raging. It hasn't been enough. On December 7th 2023, it took my sister, Amira, her husband, and her children, Mohammed, Ibrahim, and Fatima.

On December 15th 2023, my father, Rajab Halawa, joined her.

And the death will not stop. On December 24th 2023, my mother, my wife, and my children, Rajab, Karam, and Sham, were martyred.

My second sister, Farida, and her children, Salem, Maryam, and Tariq, were martyred. Even her fetus did not survive. We say only what pleases God. To God we belong and to Him we shall return.”
