Hi, My name is Ellie & I am fundraising money for my family, who have been affected by the current catastrophic floods concerning Northern NSW & QLD.
My brother Tom and his partner Karyn live in Mullumbimby, NSW, my sister Bonnie, her partner Shane and my 6yo nephew Phoenix live in Lismore, NSW.
My Mum Kate lives in Murwillumbah. All of them, in three different suburbs, have individually had their homes completely inundated with floodwater and have lost pretty much every last possession. Due to the impossibly expensive premiums, unfortunately, none of them are insured.
My sister Bonnie and her family (including my 6yo nephew who has ASD) are currently staying in their car near the evacuation centre in Lismore where they spent half the night. They've only got their car and what they could fit in it. They left early but found out later that water had gone up over the roof of their home.
My brother Tom & his partner Karyn had thigh deep water throughout their home. Karyn lost her livelihood, her Art Studio. They have also lost their vehicles, motorbike, everything. They are currently at the Mullumbimby Evacuation Centre.
My mum lives in Murwillumbah. The water started to come up through the floorboards in her house. She lives alone. The water came up waste deep & she had to be rescued by boat. She has lost absolutely everything as well. She's now safe in an evacuation centre in Murwillumbah. We've lost contact due to no service in the area.
The last I heard from my Dad in Ocean Shores he was watching it come through his garage and lap at the front door, we lost contact as well.
I'm not sure what the outcome is for my Dad yet, but for my siblings and my mum, the damage is done, they have lost everything.
It must be devastating, I can't imagine what they're going through. It will be a long and stressful recovery ahead of them.
They will need to replace everything. This is the only thing I can think to do to help.
Please help me raise money for them, every little bit would be so incredibly appreciated.
Thanking you Kindly!
UPDATE: My Dad & his wife Chrissy are ok. They were surrounded but the water luckily never came inside. Unbelievably lucky as the neighbours either side and accross the road all went under.
Bonnie, Shane & Phoenix have found temporary accommodation, offered to them by an extremely kind stranger.
Currently working on accommodation for Mum & Tom.
Mum is still at the evacuation centre.
