My name is Tyler, and I’m reaching out on behalf of my family as we face one of the most difficult moments of our lives. We are currently waiting to get into a new apartment or house, but until then, we have no choice but to pay for hotel costs just to stay somewhere warm. It’s winter here in Michigan, and there aren’t many places to turn for help. My mother is almost 70 years old, retired, and living on a fixed income. I work in concrete, but the season has ended, and the money I had saved is now gone. We are about to be homeless as soon as tomorrow unless we can come up with enough for rent to keep us sheltered in the meantime. My mom won’t receive her next check for another week and a half, and I can’t collect unemployment. Even if I found a job today, it wouldn’t be in time to help us stay somewhere warm.

We have always helped anyone who has ever asked us, without hesitation, but now we find ourselves in a situation we never imagined.
