In 2022, my life changed forever when a firearm I owned accidentally discharged and left me with a severe abdominal injury. I spent eight months in the hospital, and when I finally returned home, I was still facing a long road to recovery. My grandparents took me in and gave me a place to heal, but just a few months later, we learned that my grandfather had advanced bone cancer. Despite the doctors' hopes, he passed away, leaving my grandmother, my sister Emily (who is special needs), and me to face the world together.

Since then, we've been failing to keep up with the mounting bills. My grandmother's only income is her social security, and after my grandfather passed, that amount was cut in half. We've sold almost everything of value—jewelry, tools, even the house I grew up in—just to keep the lights on and food on the table. My sister and I have done everything we can to help, but with my limited mobility and her own challenges, neither of us can work. Our mother dumped my sister on my grandma 1 week after my grandfather died, so it's just the three of us now, doing our best to support each other.

The funds from this fundraiser will help us catch up on overdue bills like water and electricity, buy food and medicine, and address urgent needs like fixing the brakes on my grandmother's car. If possible, I hope to recover a few sentimental items we had to sell, like my grandparents' wedding rings. Any support—whether it's a donation or simply sharing our story—will mean the world to us. We NEVER usually ask for help, but right now, it's just us three against the world. Here in a month and a half, I go back in to surgery for my colostomy reversal, my goal is to set my grandma up with her bills all paid up, and enough food and spare money, so she can relax for a while. She has done more than either one of us grandchildren could EVER repay. Once I get back out of the hospital, I’ll be going back to work at a timeshare resort. After I get out of the hospital for the (fingers crossed) last time, I will be taking care of her and my sister, not the way it has been!
