A week ago, my family and I experienced a devastating house fire that started unexpectedly, likely due to a faulty circuit in our washing machine. The fire quickly spread, causing major damage to the laundry room, hallway, and both closets. Now, our home is unlivable for the next 6 to 8 months, possibly even longer, because of the ash and debris left behind. It’s been a huge shock, and we’re still trying to process everything that’s happened.

This house was my older brother’s, and it’s been especially hard on him. My younger brother, nephew, and I all lived there too, and we’re doing our best to support each other. Even though my brothers and I all work, it’s tough to make ends meet, and saving for emergencies like this has always been a challenge. The insurance company will only cover repairs to the house, not the personal items we lost in the fire, and there’s no guarantee we’ll get enough to fix everything.

We’re asking for help to cover temporary housing, some repairs, and the essentials—food, water, toiletries, and clothes. Even a couple hundred dollars would make a huge difference for us right now. This accident has put all of us at a rough corner but hopefully some support and/ or exposure to our situation, it might help lighten the load off on all of us. My two brothers are the only remaining parts of my family I have left and I would hate for everything my older brother had worked so hard for, to literally go out in flames.
