On 9/13, my parents’ home caught fire, leaving them with essentially nothing. In a matter of minutes, the home they built their lives in and nearly everything they owned was gone.

They lost not only their home and belongings, but irreplaceable pieces of their lives — childhood photographs, family memories, important documents, personal keepsakes, and things that can never truly be replaced.

One of their beloved dogs, named Athena, tragically did not survive the fire. Losing her in the midst of everything else has made this already unimaginable situation even more heartbreaking. We hope to eventually give them the opportunity to properly honor and remember her when they are ready.

My stepdad is currently in the ICU/burn unit being treated for smoke inhalation. Right now, our family is focused on his recovery while also trying to figure out where they will live and how to begin putting their lives back together.

With so much happening at once, the financial burden is overwhelming. I’m starting this fundraiser to help my parents through the immediate aftermath, provide some stability during my stepdad’s recovery, and give them the support they need to begin rebuilding their lives.

Funds raised will help with:

• Temporary housing and basic necessities

• Clothing and personal essentials

• Medical and recovery-related expenses

• Food and transportation

• Memorializing/honoring the dog they lost

• Caring for their surviving dogs

• Replacing important documents and essential belongings

• Rebuilding and replacing what was lost over time
