I moved to Lahaina from Kahana when I was 10 years old. Lahaina is my home and the home of my 5 children and 4 grandchildren. Our family lost 4 homes in the devastating wild fires. Although challenging, our goal is to rebuild on our lot and stay in Lahaina. The cost for rebuilding is extensive and will take a long time. This community is all my children know and the devastation of the wild fires have left us displaced across multiple hotels. Not only did we lose all of our belongings and our homes we also lost a beloved family member, my brother. We have been hesitant to reach out to the community for support but are learning day by day just how long the journey will be to rebuild. Thank you for your support.
