Good morning. To be honest, I can't believe that I'm doing this, but I know that I need help. I'm a single mother with five children—one of whom passed away—and I have a granddaughter on the way, which brings me hope for the future. My son and his family are in Indiana, while my children and I are currently living in a shelter in Lexington, Missouri. Our mailing address is in Independence, but right now, we are doing our best to get by day to day.

We became homeless after a difficult situation with my last daughter's father, which caused us to lose everything. All we have left are a few boxes, our washer and dryer, a table, and some precious family pictures. I have my Section 8 voucher, but we have to wait until the inspection passes before we can move into a new place. Once we do, we will need to start over from scratch—furnishing our home and making it a safe, stable place for my children and me.
