Help My Family Relocate After Arson Attack
My name is Mylah Rivera, and I live in Midlothian, TX, with my family in The Rosebud Community off 663. We’ve called this place home for six years, hoping for community, safety, and peace. Sadly, what we’ve experienced has been the exact opposite.
On Tuesday, August 12th, at around 1:00 a.m., our lives changed forever. While my family was asleep, someone came to our home and tried to set the front of our house on fire. By the grace of God, my sister happened to be awake and spotted the flames before they spread. We still have no idea who committed this horrifying act of arson. Ever since this incident happened, we have been losing sleep, staying up through the night to keep watch over our home.
This wasn’t an isolated incident. Since moving here, we’ve endured repeated acts of racial discrimination—stuffed monkeys left on our porch, racial slurs hurled at my sisters at the community pool, and neighbors retreating inside whenever we simply walk by. We came here to build a life, but instead, we’ve been met with fear, hostility, and hate.
Now, after the arson attack, my family and I have had enough. We are urgently trying to relocate to a safer community where my one-year-old daughter and my soon-to-be three-year-old niece can grow up without living in fear.
I’m raising funds to help cover the costs of moving and starting fresh somewhere we can truly feel safe. Any contribution—no matter how small—will make a huge difference in helping us escape this dangerous environment.
From the bottom of my heart, thank you for reading our story, for sharing it, and for supporting us during this frightening time.
