Help My Elderly Mum Rebuild After Devastating House Fire

In the early hours of May 1st, I received a heartbreaking message that no one wants to get. A friend of my mum’s told me that her flat in Lympstone, Devon, UK, had caught fire while she was asleep. My mother, who is in her 80s and non-mobile, was completely unaware of the danger surrounding her.

Thankfully, her amazing neighbours noticed the fire and rushed to her rescue managing to get her out just in time. She was taken to the hospital suffering from smoke inhalation and severe shock. While she is currently recovering (thankfully!), she has lost everything she owned.

The only possessions she has now are the clothes she was wearing when admitted to hospital. She has no home, no furniture, no personal belongings everything is gone.

To make things even more difficult, I live in Australia and am doing my best to support her from the other side of the world. Coordinating help and logistics from this distance has been incredibly hard.

I'm starting this GoFundMe to raise funds to help my mum replace basic essentials—clothing, bedding, furniture, and other necessities as well as assist in finding her safe and accessible housing.
