My name is Lilith, and I’m raising funds to help my grandmother, Vickie, find stable and safe housing. She is 72 years old and living with stage 4 COPD and emphysema. She cannot walk and relies on three breathing machines to stay alive. Without a secure home, her health and safety are at serious risk.

Right now, she is staying in a hotel, but she cannot afford the move-in costs for an apartment on her limited Social Security income. Her insurance has been giving her the runaround regarding a hotel voucher, and she’s been denied the help she needs. There are no programs she qualifies for that can support the level of care she requires and allow her to stay close to family.

My goal is to get her into an apartment near me so I can help her with daily needs, bring her meals, and make sure she isn’t alone without support. Traveling back and forth to her hotel every day is extremely difficult, but I do it because she’s my favorite person in the entire world.

Vickie has the kindest soul. She loves crocheting, frogs, and monkeys, and she has always given so much love to everyone around her. She deserves stability, dignity, and safety, something our broken systems have failed to provide her.
