Hi everyone,
I’m Yllanna and I’m raising money for a family cause. A bit of backstory:
Back in April, my family flew out to Malta on a holiday, but also to reconnect my dad with his big sister after years of not really being in contact. It went incredibly well, and my dad -for the first time since they were children- felt genuinely happy with the outcome of the visit. They settled their differences, and realised that they weren’t young and well people anymore. My dad is 69 years old and wheelchair bound. My 71 year old aunt has her own health problems, which includes a stoma bag being on her person.
On the 8th August, my Aunt had an operation to remove said bag that had a low success rate. Since then, her recovery has not gone as well as we would have hoped. She went from a strong recovery to everything going entirely upside down. Her oxygen levels dropped to dangerous levels, they placed her under heavy sedation and it wasn’t all that effective.
Now, she’s in critical condition. She cannot remove her ventilator to even have a drink, and the consensus is that her time is limited. My dad is absolutely heartbroken that he cannot be there to support his family that live over in Malta.
This is where this fundraiser comes in; I’m trying to raise the funds to get us over there to see our family, and to say goodbye. I work a minimum wage, low contract job and my dad cannot work due to his disability, we don’t have the means to simply go. So I’m turning to everyone here, and asking for a helping hand. I’m doing this for my dad, so he has a chance. He’s my hero, and seeing so upset is breaking my heart.
The money raised here will go towards our flights, accommodation and food whilst in Malta.
Thank you all for reading, and thank you in advance for any help
Yllanna
