Help My Daughter Heal—Support Our Move for Her Recovery

Donation protected
I’m a single mom to my amazing daughter, who lives with severe autism and other complex disabilities. She’s facing a spinal surgery that is absolutely necessary for her health and quality of life.

Unfortunately, our current living situation is not suitable for her recovery. We need to relocate to Dallas, Texas — where she can receive care from the best specialists and be surrounded by our extended family, friends, and a strong support system.

We live on a fixed income through her SSDI, and this move is simply not possible without help. I’m reaching out with hope and gratitude to ask for your support in helping us get to Dallas and give my daughter the chance to heal in a place where she can truly thrive.

Every donation, no matter the amount, brings us closer to making this happen. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your kindness and support!

About Emma
Emma is a vibrant, opinionated, strong, and inspiring. Emma is herself through and through.

Doctors call her a "complex case"—she has severe autism, global developmental delays, Schuermann’s disease, and uses a wheelchair due to clubbed feet and hypotonia. Though she appears shy, her understanding far exceeds what she can express (a 1:10 expressive-to-receptive ratio). She also has multiple sensory processing disorders, including altered pain perception, which complicates diagnosing issues like spine pain. She has a novel genetic mutation that doesn’t match known syndromes like Prader-Willi or Angelman’s, making her condition both rare and difficult to diagnose as symptoms worsen.

Her teachers and friends at school would describe her as clever, funny, and very intelligent. I enjoy hearing stories from the paras and teachers about how Emma encourages herself and navigates her days. Her favorite mantra: I am strong. I am brave. I am safe. I got this!

To her family and all who know her well, she is also simply amazing. She is a audiophile and loves theater! She demands art!! She will ask me to sing a song and correct me if my pitch is off with, "no no no! Like this!" *rewind, play again* I also draw for her every night. Her hands are too weak to hold pencils, so I do my best to be her hands and draw precisely what she has envisioned. Then we play the story that we drew over and over until bedtime.

Her love of theater enables her to express herself to the best of her ability. Below is Emma in a hotel room for the first time in years. She is absolutely awestruck, and loves her new pajamas, too!

I hope this gives you some insight as to the type of person Emma is and how much support and love I have for her.

Many Blessings,
Emma and Britney (mom)
