Hi. My name is Kseniya and I’m from Kiev, Ukraine. My dad is still in Kiev, the war is still going, and we need help. This is really hard to ask, but we have done as much as we have been capable of. In October of last year, my dad, Stanislav Ostrovski, underwent emergency heart surgery. Although he recovered well, his recovery was long and alone. A few months later, what we thought might be complications turned out to be colon cancer. After 6 months of chemotherapy showed no improvement, the next step is surgery. Chemotherapy drugs have been expensive and the surgery and subsequent medication and care will be too. My dad does not have someone to even accompany him, let alone help him with recovery afterward. Being so far away makes it very difficult to help with any care. In order for him to get the care he needs, including surgery, we have to pay first. I know what you’re thinking, but unfortunately, this isn’t America.
My family and I have done what we can; however, I’m a full-time college student and this has been very financially difficult for me. Anything helps my dad, even a dollar or five is more than we had before. Thank you is an understatement.
