My name is Carola Suarez, and I’m reaching out with a heavy heart to ask for your help.

My dad, Carlos Arturo Suarez Tovar, is 78-year-old and has already endured more than most could imagine. He was forced to flee the chaos and danger of Venezuela in search of safety. Today, he’s seeking asylum here in the United States, trying to rebuild a life from the ground up.

But his journey hasn’t gotten any easier.

A few years ago, my dad was diagnosed with a form of cancer affecting his spine. He is undergoing chemotherapy—a treatment he cannot stop without risking his life. Unfortunately, one of the devastating side effects of his medication is severe damage to his teeth.

He has already lost four teeth, and the rest are weak, brittle, and breaking. Eating has become painful, speaking is more difficult, and smiling—something he once did so easily—now comes with embarrassment and sadness.

His doctors recommend removing the remaining teeth and fitting him with removable dentures to restore his ability to eat, speak, and smile again. This is not a cosmetic procedure—it’s essential for his health, nutrition, and dignity.

Sadly, Medicare and assistance programs do not cover the full cost of the surgery and dentures. The cost for the extractions, dental impressions, and dentures is around 13,000 thousand CAN, a sum that is simply out of reach for my dad given his medical expenses and asylum status.
