On July 7, 2025, my 70-year-old dad, who is in a wheelchair, was woken by a neighbor pounding on his door — there was a fire at his rental house next door, and the house was fully engulfed. This rental home wasn’t just a property — it was my dad’s sole source of income. After breaking his back in a 3-wheeler motorcycle accident in 1981, he became permanently disabled and has been unable to work since. He used his settlement to purchase that house, and over the years, it’s provided a steady income that helped him through decades of medical challenges, surgeries, and day-to-day needs.
Despite the loss, my dad’s faith in God remains unshaken. But the reality is: the financial burden of cleaning up and possibly rebuilding is far beyond his means. Because fire insurance costs have skyrocketed in his area, he simply couldn’t afford coverage — and now the home is a total loss. Even just the cost of debris removal is surprisingly expensive. Our hope is to raise enough to cover cleanup and—if possible—begin the long road to rebuilding.
If you feel moved to help, even a small amount means so much. Maybe this week you skip your usual Starbucks run and donate the difference to support someone who’s spent his life overcoming one challenge after another. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for reading and for any support you can give.
