Help My Dad Rebuild After Devastating Flash Flood

Last night, my father’s life changed in an instant. A flash flood tore through our Appalachian hometown of Wheeling, West Virginia, leaving behind destruction, heartbreak, and unimaginable loss. My dad, Doug, watched as water rushed through and around the business he has poured his heart and soul into for over 11 years. The very foundation of his livelihood—gone in a matter of minutes. They're saying the water rose 7 feet in under an hour. Winkin’ Sun Hemp Company is now gone.

He’s in shock. I’m heartbroken and speechless only mustering up enough words to get into this GoFundMe.

His business has been a staple of our Wheeling community, not just a source of income, but a gathering place that supported and gave back to the people around it. My heart dropped when he called me to relay that everything was gone. Everything he had been working on and living off of for a decade.

My dad has dedicated his life to educating folks about sustainable agriculture, the healing properties of plants, and coming together for community through his business. He's worked his ass off to help make West Virginia a better place for ALL. And I hate to see him lose his source of security and stability.

We’re asking for help—anything you can give—to help my dad begin the long process of cleanup and rebuilding. He doesn't have insurance for this, which is why I'm reaching out to my community. Every dollar raised will go directly to helping him recover from this tragedy in a place already lacking resources and adequate support from the government.
