My father is 76 years old and worked hard his whole life. Now, after 40 years running Cutters Edge, a series of health and financial setbacks has him in danger of losing his home.
Last year he began experiencing severe health issues, and this spring his intestines ruptured. He was airlifted from his home in Oregon to Boise for emergency surgery that doctors say saved his life.
Since then, he’s been in and out of the hospital four times and has already had a second surgery. Even with decent insurance, he still owes thousands in medical bills on top of the property taxes he owes on his house and land ("the ranch").
At the same time, he is carrying significant debt related to Cutters Edge, the business he built and ran for forty years. As President, he had personally guaranteed the loans, and when a planned sale of the company fell through, he was left holding the debt. This also means he's unable to get a loan to cover his expenses.
My dad’s only steady income is Social Security, which simply isn’t enough to cover his medical expenses, property taxes, and business debt. He’s sold all the tools and equipment he can but he is still far short.
The ranch is currently for sale, which would eventually allow him to pay everything off, but the rural Oregon real estate market is slow. In the meantime, the bills keep coming, and without help he risks losing the home he worked his entire life to build.
At 76 and recovering from major surgeries, he has no way to earn the money needed to catch up. That’s why I’m reaching out on his behalf.
Every contribution—no matter the size—will go directly toward paying property taxes and medical bills, keeping my dad in his home until it can be sold.
Thank you so much for reading, sharing, and helping however you can. Your support means the world to me and my dad.
