Help My Dad Live His Best Life!

**UPDATE** We have reached the first goal of 1000 for him to adopt a dog! Now, I want to see if we can take it a step further.

I want to leave this GoFundMe open, with every donation going to my dad. Although he won't admit it, I know he struggles to live off of social security (as I imagine most people do). If we can help him pay off his truck, buy groceries, pay his rent, ANYthing to make this mans life easier, that's what I want to do. Most people will never know what lengths my dad has gone through to make sure I never struggled. I want to do the same for him.

Hello friends! First off, thank you for reading this. My name is Larissa, daughter to the 81-year-old legend, Russell. My dad has been through more than most people can imagine—from Vietnam, to losing his oldest son and my mother, the love of his life, within three short weeks of each other. But despite all his hardships, he has always put his kids first. He has saved my life too many times to count, and now, I want to return the favor.

My dad lives alone, which is how he likes it. But, being retired, he can get quite lonely. My dad needs a four-legged companion to spoil, and I want to give him that. But, his apartment complex is asking for a $500 pet deposit, and, living on social security, that's about impossible to manage.

I'd like to take the financial burden off his shoulders and surprise him with a rescue dog that needs a good home—hence the reason I'm here! I'd like to be able to cover the pet deposit, spay/neuter/adoption fee, vaccinations, and of course food, bowls, and toys. Anything over that will go straight to my dad to help him with any other expenses he may have.
