On July 14th, 2025, my brother went in for what he believed would be a routine immigration check-in. Instead, he was detained and now faces deportation to Cambodia - a country he hasn’t seen since he was a toddler.
In 1984 my parents and my brother (who was only 2 years old at the time) came to the United States as refugees, escaping the horrors of the Khmer Rouge genocide and its aftermath. America has been his home for over 40 years.
Now, he’s being forced to start over in a country he doesn’t know - without a home and without resources.
Your donation will go towards housing/shelter, clothes, food, and all the essentials to help him adjust. My goal is to give him a strong foundation as he starts over in Cambodia. Any amount - big or small - will make a huge difference.
If you can’t donate, I humbly ask you to share his story. I will provide updates as his situation unfolds.
Thank you to everyone who has reached out and shown support. It means the world to him & I.
Kindest Regards,
Marid
