Help My Aunt and I Welcome a New Life

My aunt has always been a source of strength and kindness, not just for me but for so many others. She lost her mother at a young age and faced a difficult childhood with a stepmother who eventually forced her out of her home while she was still in high school. Despite these challenges, my aunt worked tirelessly to put herself through university, even though she couldn’t study the course she truly wanted due to financial constraints. She became a teacher, and that’s how I met her—she helped my sister go from struggling in school to excelling, and she’s always gone out of her way to support those around her.

Her journey has been filled with hardship. She lost her apartment in a fire, suffered miscarriages, and endured heartbreak in a long-term relationship that ended painfully. Even after all this, she continued to help others, teaching children for free and supporting families in need. Now, she is pregnant and due to give birth any day, but she has no money for delivery or a safe place to stay. She has no one to turn to for support, and despite everything, she remains caring and selfless, but she needs help now more than ever.

As for me, I was born in America but moved to Nigeria with my mother after my grandfather passed away. We faced our own struggles—financial instability, family conflict, and the constant pressure of trying to make ends meet. My father has always been unsupportive and controlling, reminding us of every dollar spent and calling me a failure for wanting to be an actress and screenwriter. I carry the weight of debts to him and the pain of his harsh words, but I still dream of building a better life. I recently returned to New York, hoping to find work and support my family, but things have been harder than I imagined. My mother is struggling back home, and my aunt is about to welcome a new baby with no support. I want nothing more than to help my aunt and my family, especially with my niece on the way, but I can’t do it alone. Any support you can give would mean the world to us. Thank you for being here and for considering helping us in our time of need.
