Mums cancer journey. Help mum gain back her confidence,

Donation protected
Hello, my name is Tina-Louise, and I’m reaching out with a heavy heart to share my mother’s story. I have set up this GoFundMe page to support her during this incredibly challenging time. It’s difficult to express just how much she means to us. Mum is not just a remarkable woman; she is the very soul of our family—a loving mother to seven children, two of whom we have tragically lost. This broke her heart, a burden no mother should ever have to carry. Her unwavering dedication and love have shaped each of us, and now we find ourselves wanting to give back to her as she faces her own struggles.

Mum discovered a small, hard lump in her left breast—about the size of a 5-cent piece. Despite having no pain, she reached out to her doctor and was scheduled for a scan, with a six-week wait. Mum is gentle and patient by nature and didn’t think to rush the process. Unfortunately, we had no idea that during those weeks, the situation was growing more urgent as the lump was growing rapidly, at a rate of 1% each day, and had spread to her lymph nodes. When the scans revealed the heartbreaking diagnosis of stage 3 rare triple-negative breast cancer, it felt as though the ground had been pulled from beneath us.

As Mum begins her chemotherapy journey, the weight of this new reality has been overwhelming. She has faced countless everyday challenges and unexpected issues that have prevented her from staying in her own home. For over 45 years, our family home has been her sanctuary, filled with love and memories. She has always been the first to help others in need, taking in children who needed a loving home, food, or shelter. But now, that cherished space has become a source of additional stress. Significant damage from a long-term water leak has corroded her gas line and created an unsafe environment filled with mold—compounding her struggles at a time when she needs comfort the most. My heart aches for her, and I deeply wish she could find peace in the home she has nurtured for us all.

This is where your support can make a difference. Funds raised will assist with essential home repairs, allowing Mum to finally return to her sanctuary as she recovers from each intense weekly regimen, surgery, immunotherapy, and radiotherapy. Our hope is to have her back in her own home for in the New Year, where she can find the peace and comfort she so desperately needs.

Complications have come alongside chemotherapy. Her skin is beginning to peel in large areas, leaving it red and raw. She has been prescribed Betnovate (betamethasone) twice a day to prevent further inflammation and unnecessary damage. Magnesium and coconut oil are also helping, but the costs are adding up. She is showing early signs of peripheral neuropathy, starting in her hands, causing pain, weakness, and numbness. She has become anemic, making her feel dizzy and uneasy on her feet. Despite having a blood transfusion and magnesium infusion with no great changes on her levels, dietary requirements, medication is of importance and comes with again extra costs.
Only in her first cycle of treatment, she lost her hair—a heart-wrenching transformation for anyone, let alone someone as vibrant as she is. With her granddaughter’s wedding approaching in January, we want to do something truly special for her. Our hope is to gift her with a beautiful real hair wig, helping to restore the confidence that the illness has tried to steal away. We want her to remember that she is still the beautiful, spirited woman we know and love, not just someone battling with cancer.

Mum’s weekly chemotherapy regimen is truly extensive and quite daunting for her. Chemotherapy cycles includes:
4 cycles of Carboplatin, Paclitaxel, and Pembrolizumab
4 cycles of Doxorubicin and Cyclophosphamide, followed by surgery
9 cycles of Pembrolizumab
we are all feeling the emotional weight of this challenging journey together. Our hearts are with her every step of the way as we navigate this tough road as a family, but financially we reach out for assistance and hopefully a little donation will make the financial burden a little lighter.

This is a challenging time for us, and we truly appreciate your understanding and compassion as we navigate through it. If you could take a moment to keep Mum in your thoughts and prayers, it would mean so much to us. For those who feel inspired to contribute financially, your support would be a tremendous blessing during this journey.
With raised funds we hope to assist mum with medication, and a wig to build her confidence and bring back that beaming smile.
And if donations exceed, we will be able to help her return to her home, in livable condition.

Thank you for taking time to read her story, being there for us and Mum on this journey; your support and love truly make a difference.

With heartfelt gratitude,
Tina-Louise
