Help Low Income Areas Access Menstrual Products
Donation protected
Hello, we are a group of passionate students from Michigan State University committed to fighting period poverty. Period poverty refers to the lack of access to affordable menstrual products, adequate sanitation, hygiene facilities, and the necessary education to manage menstrual health effectively. This issue affects many individuals, particularly those in low-income communities, and can result in serious health, social, and economic challenges.
To better understand the scope of the issue on our campus, we conducted a survey that revealed alarming results: 50% of students reported having to resort to alternative methods during their menstrual cycle due to the lack of menstrual products available when they needed them. This highlights the pressing need for accessible and affordable period products for all individuals, regardless of their financial situation.
As part of our initiative to address period poverty, we are taking concrete steps to make a difference. In addition to raising awareness and advocating for more inclusive policies, we will be making a donation to the Bailey Scholars Program, a program that provides financial support to students in need. Through this donation, we aim to directly assist those who may be struggling with access to menstrual products and ensure that their basic health and hygiene needs are met. While our goal is set to $200, we would love to go above and beyond and expand that amount to better support communities in need.
By coming together as a community, we hope to create a lasting impact, not only by providing immediate relief but also by fostering an environment of education and empathy around menstrual health. We are committed to breaking the stigma surrounding periods and ensuring that everyone has the resources they need to live with dignity and confidence.
Thank you for supporting our efforts to make menstrual products and education accessible to all.
