Food insecurity among college students is a prevalent and growing issue. National surveys estimate that 30-40% of U.S. college students experience some level of food insecurity, 2-3x higher than the general U.S. population. Food insecurity negatively impacts students' physical and mental health, as well as academic outcomes. The threats to food assistance programs will not only see this issue rise, but will place a greater strain on food banks, food pantries, and other meal assistance programs.
In an effort to address this rising need, the Student Nutrition & Dietetics program at MNSU will be preparing and donating healthy ready-to-eat meals to the campus food pantry. Our students will be donating their time and expertise, but we will need financial donations to cover the cost of supplies. Donate to "buy a meal" for a student in need.
